COD. 80 / Week end on the roads of the Randonnée del Trasimeno

A route of 200 kilometers with departure and arrival in Passignano sul Trasimeno, touching the Trasimeno lake, the Monte Peglia, the Corbara lake, crossing historic towns like Marsciano, Orvieto, Castel Viscardo, Ficulle, Fabro, Monteleone di Orvieto, Città della Pieve , Castiglion del Lago.

An extraordinary journey to discover a surprising region for history, nature, culture and beauty, bringing with you the travel card, to be stamped to the rando points along the way, to obtain the patent as the real randonneeurs. Only that you can do it in two days instead of one, having more time to enjoy the views, visit the villages and cities, taste good wine and good food.

The itinerary develops in the western part of Umbria, between Lake Trasimeno and Orvieto, crossing the Natural Parks of Lake Trasimeno, the Tiber River and Monte Peglia.

The area is hilly and therefore the stretches of the plains will not be many. You will face mainly hills and short climbs, with the exception of the ascent to Monte Peglia, very long but with not binding slopes. Here you will find wide roads, with little traffic and a good background, really ideal for cycling and enjoying the beauty of the area. Also noteworthy are the ascents leading to Orvieto, Castel Viscardo, Valico del Nibbio and Monteleone di Orvieto.

The naturalistic sceneries and the places to see change kilometer after kilometer, passing from the lakes to the woods, from the vines to the expanses of sunflowers and cultivated fields. Just as there are many villages and cities to see: Mugnano, Marsciano, Orvieto, Castel Viscardo, Monteleone, Castiglione del Lago, just to name a few.

The path is still challenging and requires a good level of training. A cyclist who trains regularly a couple of times a week can face it without any problem. The recommended bike is the racing bike with front compact crankset.
