Torre della Botonta

Torre della Botonta

per person

The scattered hotel Torre della Botonta is located within the walls of Castel S. Giovanni, the 14th century fortified hamlet situated in the heart of Umbria. A small part of the medieval castle today has been transformed into a historic house in which to experience a fascinating mélange of culture, art, history as well as excellent food and wine and impeccable service.

Torre della Botonta’s four bedrooms and apartment all feature original terracotta floor tiles and vaulted ceilings. Upholstery and drapes made by local artisans using natural fibers such as hemp, linen, silk and jute combine perfectly with the items of antique furniture and the carefully chosen hotel- standard accessories. An old loggia leads to the apartment, comprised of two bedrooms, bathroom and large living room with kitchenette and open fireplace. Art enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the tiny fresco dating back to the medieval period, which takes pride of place in the living room.

A little corner of paradise for lovers of Umbria’s traditional flavor packed cuisine, “Grotta della Torre” restaurant serves superb seasonal dishes, created with the area’s truffles, mushrooms, game meat and, in the autumn, the fabulous black celery of Trevi. The delicious food is just one of the reasons why Torre della Botonta is such a highly requested venue for banquets and wedding receptions. Those wishing to tie the knot at the castle, can do so in the site’s pretty little church.

The watchtower situated at the entrance of the hamlet, is the most suggestive place of the castle, with a library and a splendid room used for unforget- table candlelit dinners. Breakfast is served in the ancient Rivellino.

Torre della Botonta is located in the heart of Umbria. Trevi, Montefalco and Spoleto, are just a few minutes away. In just half an hour you can reach the most sought after places such as Assisi, Spello and Bevagna. A little further are Perugia, Orvieto, Gubbio, Deruta and Todi.
